左焕琮教授（1945年6月6日~2017年2月15日），祖籍湖南省湘阴县，左宗棠第五代嫡孙。其父左景鉴是我国著名外科专家，曾任上海华山医院副院长，并参与创建重庆医科大学。受父亲左景鉴的影响和左家“不为良相，即为良医”家风的传承，他从小就选择了从医的道路。
Professor Zuo Huancong was born in Xiangyin, Hunan Province on June 6, 1945. He was the fifth generation descendant of Zuo Zongtang. His father Zuo Jingjian, a well-known surgeon in China, served as vice-director of Shanghai Huashan hospital, and also participated in the establishment of Chongqing Medical University. Under the influence of his father and the inheritance of “Either to be a good prime minister or to be an excellent doctor”, he chose the career in medicine from a young age.
左焕琮教授是我国著名的神经外科专家，是显微血管减压术的创始人之一，从医40多年。退休后，仍心系病人，继续工作在临床一线。
Professor Zuo Huancong was a famous neurosurgeon in China, as well as one of the founders of microvascular decompression surgery. He has been in career in medicine for over 40 years. After retirement, he was still caring for the patients, and worked in the clinical front line.
他是一名教师，甘当人梯，注重培养学生和青年医生的国际视野。2011年与中国著名神经外科专家王忠诚院士共同组建成立“清华大学临床神经科学研究院”，并在2015年创办了英文杂志《临床神经转化医学（英文版）》。
As a teacher, he focused on developing international vision of students and young doctors. Jointly with academician Wang Chongcheng, a famous neurosurgery in China, he established the “Institute of Clinical Neuroscience of Tsinghua University” in 2011, and launched an English magazine Translational Neuroscience and Clinics in 2015.
他是一名研究者，还是一名开拓者，与国际多学科组建学术交流合作平台，推动了显微神经外科的发展。
Not only a researcher, but also a pioneer, he established academic exchange and cooperation platform with international multidisciplinary, which promoted the development of microneurosurgery.
他是优秀的管理者，以大专科、小综合的发展思路推动了清华大学第二附属医院的发展。清华大学为表彰他的功绩，2015年授予他清华大学最高奖“清华大学突出贡献奖”。
He was also an excellent manager. His idea of the hospital-running model of large-special and small-general deptment promoted the development of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University. In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded the highest award in Tsinghua University, the “Outstanding Contribution Award” in 2015.
他待人宽厚，平易近人，却又充满活力，深受大家的尊重和爱戴。
